Acne is not a teenage problem that adults have failed to grow out of. It is a follicle that has become blocked with oil and dead skin, and it turns up at twenty-two and at fifty-two, often for different reasons.
What we do about it depends on what is actually happening in your skin. Extraction and resurfacing clear the congestion; peels work on the texture and discolouration that outlast the breakout itself. Most people need a course rather than a single visit.
Active, painful or cystic acne is a medical problem and belongs with a dermatologist first. We will tell you if that is what we are looking at.
